Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra:ndeI/ 'gra:ndeI/@ GRAHN-day;[note 1] born on June 26 the 26th of June, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. The four-octave range of her voice, and signature use of the whistle register have been highly praised by the both critics and the media. Grande has received many awards throughout her career which include two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award One Brit Award, one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards as well as three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 30 Guinness World Records.


Grande's musical career began at the age of 15 in the Broadway musical "13". Grande made her name a household name in the role of Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's television series Victorious (2010 - 2013) and as Sam & Cat(2013 from 2013 to 2014). After viewing YouTube videos of Grande performing songs, Republic Records signed Grande in the year 2011. Grande's 1950s-doo-wop-influenced R&B and debut pop album"Yours Truly (2013) was a hit and landed in the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's voice and her whistle in the album instantly drew comparisons to Mariah Carey.


The second and third studio albums, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016), continued her exploration of pop and R&B. My Everything experimented with EDM and became a huge hit due to the singles "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang", while Dangerous Woman became her first album to have four consecutive albums at number one in the UK. Sweetener (2018), as well as Thank U, Next (2019), were her fourth and fifth studio albums, respectively, featuring trap music. Both of these albums were commercial and critically appreciated. Sweetener won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, and Thank U Next set a record for the largest streaming week for a pop album and was nominated for Album of the Year. Grande was the first solo artist to achieve the top three spots of the Hot 100 and become the first woman to achieve the top spot on the UK Singles Chart with the singles "Thank U. Next", "7 Rings" and "Break up with Your Girlfriend. The 2020 collaborations "Stuck with U" with Justin Bieber and "Rain on Me" together with Lady Gaga helped her break records for the most number-one debuts on the Hot 100, the latter receiving the Grammy Award for Best Pop duo or group performance. Grande extended her trap sound with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) with the result that the title track as well as the album's title track debuted at top spot in the UK. She worked with The Weeknd to make the remix to "Save Your Tears" in 2021. It was her sixth no.1 US single.
